Holidays Week 1
Saturday, December 6, 2014
had a pretty eventful week since exams ended last fri.
went over to cousin's new house warming last sunday. played with his cat which i will be heading down tmr to be a cat nanny for sat&sun. my sis and cousins went to play the bedok reservoir's forest adventure. looks pretty fun especially some of the obstacle course but i don't think it's worth the $44 sadly.
shopping spree with the boy on wed. got my down outerwear, shoes, socks, gloves, heattech top and a beanie. already becoming broke before i even embark on the trip. so looking forward to it! now i know, jap is really the place that i wanna visit so dearly that the anticipation feels so much different.
finally met up with the girls on thurs night after their last paper concluded.
went over to standingsushibar for the thu deal - $3 for 5slices of salmon. thank goodness we've booked our seats on mon. the place opens at 6 and we were there around 550. the queue was already so...imba. and it never seems to reduce at all. please make a reservation if you don't wish to queue for a min of half an hour.
the good part - true that the salmon was decent and definitely worth the price. but that's pretty much it since we only tried the salmon and rockstar aburi. that was okay but shiok maki (Koh Grill & Sushi Bar) and salmon aburi (The Sushi Bar) both wins it hands down.
the bad part - so stress eating inside with the snake queue and overly anxious staff who feels like they are trying to chase you to finish your food and leave. and please don't order the umeshu. if not you'll just regret it like me. it taste more like plum juice with no alcoholic taste at all and it's only 1/3 cup filled. i guess that's why it was only $5. come on, my mom can get an entire bottle of umeshu that taste 10times nicer at less than thrice the price. and it taste a hell lot nicer and alot stronger.
all in all, just go there for the salmon. esp when it's on offer on mon and thu.
and of course, we were not full so ended up at Strictly pancakes for some dessert. not sure if it's popularity has declined or what, recently there isn't any queue at all even during dinner time. not that the standard has drop, but pancakes are something you are only willing to splurge once in a while. i mean it's pancake afterall.
met up with xb & nicolette this afternon. how do i even spell her name. for lunch buffet at Senki Japanese Restaurant near somerset at the courtesy of xb. haha. not that i feel like i've helped him thaaat much to deserve a meal.
the food's pretty good there given the price. and the place really feels like an authentic japanese place with the counter top and wooden stairs. the salmon was so fat and i believe there were more than 5slices cause i took quite a while to finish the entire plate of sashimi. and the slices were so fat.
no photos cause my phone died on me recently and all i've left is a mini ace from the boy. the amazing part is the battery life is so good that it can probably last me two days without charging. but all i can do is browse fb, insta and wa. tried to download various apps and all playstore says is "the phone is not compatible." T.T
met up with the boy afterwards to continue my shopping spree at bugis. it was supposed to be a cross fashion coordinating but end up i'm the only one buying everything. lol. got my two pairs of jeans, moisturiser and other necessities. i feel like i'm all ready to fly off in like a few days time when actually there's still two weeks to go. so near yet so farrrrrrrrrr.
