this is gonna be a freaking long posts. so sit back and crack some knuckles, you are gonna use that finger to scroll a whole lot.
so where did i stop last time.
after cny...last mon-wed was just plain old school and quiz. -skip-
Thursday
met up for cyber discussion and dinner at Ding Tai Feng. xlb yum yum.
catch FVTMII with zz&yl. omg the comedy cannot sia. other than flying poker cards, this show is pretty much like a joke too. can never seem to understand cny comedy films.
Friday
met up with the boy after his lesson to change some rupiah. dinner at The Assembly Ground cafe afterwards. the food was pretty good. i would say the pasta was better than the eggs benny.
passed by a korea food fair at plaza sing. bought this yopokki thing to try it out. supposed to be instant rice cake where you open up the cup and there is a pack of sauce and a pack of frozen rice cake. pretty much it. pour both items into the cup and microwave. simple as that but the rice cake turned out so hard and chewy it feels like i'm eating some rubber stick. the sauce was sweet and spicy. maybe i should have just stick to dobokki snacks instead.
Saturday
tuition in the afternoon. and manage to get the boy to help me carry my new toy. finally bought the Tecnogas TEO 3400 oven @ $158 (1+2year warranty) from northpoint's harvey norman. time to try out some baking over the weekends!
went over to ah ma house afterwards for another cny gathering dinner for my dad's side.
Sunday
relatives came over for anoootheerrr gathering. this was my mom's side. lots of food + steamboat + louhei + banluck.
Monday changed our ferry timing from 9plus to 1110 instead. thank goodness we did otherwise, i would have been so shag having to wake up at 6am instead. cabbed down to tanah merah ferry terminal. a freaking ulu place. cab fare was about $25 from woodlands to tmft.
had a small breakfast before boarding the ferry. initially the plan was to book a direct ferry to the private bintan lagoon ferry terminal but due to indonesia's law and regulations, the ferry terminal is still under inspection for safety till april 2015. and so our ferry was transferred to the original bintan ferries instead.
before that, let's take a wefie.
we arrived at the terminal after roughly an hour's journey. bintan is an hour slower than singapore so we left at 1110 sgt and arrived at 1110 local time. feels like as though time didn't moved at all.
bintan lagoon has a shuttle bus ready at the ferry terminal to pick anyone up. (only when we were about to check out did we realised that it cost roughly sgd $10 per pax to use the shuttle bus to-and-fro, so don't assume anything is free in bintan.)
booked a 2d1n stay at Bintan Lagoon Resort on groupon.
was a relatively short journey to the hotel. and we arrived around 12plus. check-in timing was supposed to be 3pm but since it was a weekday, we were allowed to check in early.
and we were given the option to upgrade our room to deluxe seaview at sgd $30 a night and we took the offer. even though most stuff are quoted in sgd, bintan only accepts the equivalent amount in rupiah or otherwise, visa/credit card/etc. they no longer accepts sgd directly. thank goodness we changed a minimum of $80 per pax for the trip.
and this was the room. would say it was worth the price. $138 in total for the one night stay. with a gigantic bed, a platform sofa, huge toilet with bathtub, and a balcony that's facing the sea. and there are quite a number of channels on tv including nat geo, discovery, HBO movies, channel v, nhkworld, axn, mediacorp channels, etc,
since ours was a last minute upgrade, the room was at the very end of the block so the view at the balcony was kinda blocked by the trees. but for that price, i seriously wouldn't mind even if the sea was blocked.
the weather forecast stated that there was a high chance of storm from 12pm all the way till 9pm that day. was afraid it was gonna pour and ruin the trip so we quickly went out to recce the place afterwards. luckily it didn't rain for the entire trip. the boy said it was due to his overwhelming auspicious presence...
the stunning view at lobby. anyway there's free wifi at the lobby but there isn't any in the rooms unless you pay for it. of course being typical singaporeans we just jew the wifi at the lobby instead.
this is the latest map of the entire resort. initially was planning to dine at Miyako, a japanese restaurant that had the most decent reviews online. saw a map online that showed the old operating hours which stated open daily. didn't realise they had updated their timing to only operate from thu-sun. :( so sadly it wasn't open on a monday.
went over to Haskell's cafe for lunch. the prices are pretty exorbitant but tourists can't do anything about it. afterall, those are the only restaurants available in the resort. so unless you chartered a car to travel out, tourist will have to just accept the price of sgd$20 minimum for a dish. we tried the fish and chips which tasted a little different from the ones we usually have. i supposed it's the type of fish they used. decent but wouldn't say it was worth the bucks. before coming over to this trip, read several reviews on the ridiculously high pricing in bintan. so we were kinda prepared to spend close to 30bucks per meal per pax. went over to the beach after lunch. it was more like our private beach since there were so little guests that day in the entire resort.
this is the non-edited shot to show you the soft fine sand. have to admit this beach is definitely better than the one at sentosa.
camwhored at the beach putting the selfie stick into good use. can even push it into the sand to become a tripod stick. there were seasports but because it was still near the end of monsoon season, the waves were quite rough so nobody was playing any sea activities.
went to the pool afterwards. there are two pools in Bintan Lagoon Resort. the one closer to us has section of 1.3m and 2.2m and a pool side bar. the pool on the other side has two mini slides and is more shallow, mainly catered to children.
washed up and nua sai before heading down to check out the other areas including the leisure facilities. there's a gym, pool and billard room, karaoke room, game station room (wii, etc).
dinner over at RICE. supposingly the most atas cafe in the entire resort. of course the price was range between 20sgd to 40sgd. we ordered the mutton rice each and a molten lava cake for dessert. the mutton rice was pretty yummy. but the best dish would be the dessert lol. was only sgd$10 and it was good! given the view from our seat, that dinner was pretty worth it.
Tuesday
breakfast buffet next morning which was included in our groupon deal. thank goodness it was included cause we were only left with sgd$10 worth of rupiah by then.
the breakfast was yummy. lots of choices and the guy at the egg station makes really good omelette! we left the place too early and missed the pancake guy. sad sad.
check-out at 11am and ferry back to sg.
now i'm back to this reality with report due today. noooo.
